“Fighting Tyranny: The Dr. KSO Story”
Short film to be released in 2026
Peter Kim googled his family name, which led to an incredible discovery: a photo of the 1907 graduating class at Louisville Medical School in Kentucky, featuring 112 white men and one Korean man who turned out to be Peter’s great-grandfather. Incredulous at this discovery, Peter wrote to the University, which shared an article from its archives. This article, written by a journalist at the Louisville Gazette in 1906, features an interview with Peter’s grandfather and recounts how he left Korea in 1898 to attend Medical School in Kentucky. This man, whom we call Dr. KSO, was wanted by the King and sentenced to death in his home country.
Our short film tells the incredible story of Dr. KSO’s escape from death, his flight to the USA, and his redemption in his home country, Korea. This powerful story of a man fighting tyranny can inspire us today.

Past Projects:
The Life of A Trailblazer (2014)
In 2013, Carol Emmott learned that her cancer had returned. Confronting the reality of her passing, she sought a way to keep her memory and values alive. We created this documentary to honor her life—both for the family members who cherished her and for future generations who would come to know her story.
Carol was a woman ahead of her time, a trailblazer who opened doors for other women in the healthcare industry. After watching the film, her friends and family were inspired to extend her legacy by establishing a fellowship in her name. Since 2015, the Carol Emmott Foundation for Women Leaders in Healthcare has continued its mission to empower women to rise into leadership roles across the healthcare field.
Strength in History:
Walking Sacred Ground (2021)
History here is a living resource that supplies courage, clarity, and the quiet authority to walk new ground. The clip builds an emotional arc: curiosity becomes discovery, discovery becomes connection, and connection becomes resolve. Through a variety of scenes, we see ordinary domestic moments overlaid with archival footage that traces migrations, hard choices, and quiet resilience. Interwoven testimonies—brief, candid confessions from family members—articulate how knowing the past reframes present possibility: inherited courage, lessons learned the hard way, promises kept across generations. The editing links past and present with visual echoes, suggesting continuity rather than interruption. The overall tone is reverent but hopeful—this is not mere nostalgia but an active reclamation.
Kim Family Harmony (2023)
When Peter Kim's father passed away, Peter shared on Facebook that his father had been a refugee from North Korea. He fled persecution at the hands of the Communists and arrived in Seoul with nothing. Despite these challenges, he managed to marry into royalty and earned three medical degrees in three different languages.
The Kim Family Saga narrates the story of Peter’s parents, highlighting the obstacles they overcame and the difficult choices they faced. In one interview, Peter expressed to his daughter, "We have an incredible life today because of the decision my father made at 15 years old. How do we live our lives to honor our ancestors and their sacrifices?"

“In The Door” song
CT Beats and his UMC crew wrote this song after we secured a Warner Chappell publishing deal. We were definitely In The Door at that point. I recorded this video while we were in Venice Beach, California, taking a break from meetings.
